About Lexx

Lexx in the City …

Hi everyone!  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Alexa, but you can call me what everyone else does: Lex.  I am a passionate journalist; writing has forever been one of my true loves.  It was clear to me that my future would involve writing when my ninth grade teacher placed a pair of battered, beaten work boots on a stool in front of the class.  “Write about anything you want, featuring these worn work boots,” she told us.  Some students looked at her in shock and displeasure.  I took it as an exciting and creative challenge that I could not wait to begin.  My imagination ran away with the person who wore those tattered boots and the adventures they traveled.  Ever since then, I could not stop writing…or imagining.

In my effort to create something that I truly enjoy, as well as making a home for my articles, I would like to introduce you to my blog.  Lexx in the City features everything to possibly know about chic fashion, scrumptious delights & such.  And the blog’s name itself?  Inspired by a good friend; when he found out I was interning as a writer in New York City, he simply stated, “You’re basically a character on Sex and the City.”  Thanks Kstan!  Why Lexx in the City?  Well, you are just going to have to read and find out!

I have an enormous fancy cupcake obsession.  I love to bake pretty pastries – and sample the finished products as every good baker should, of course!  Even though I indulge in savory sweets from time to time, exercising and eating healthy are also two integral parts of a typical day in the life.  I enjoy taking my bike out for a ride on a gorgeous sunny afternoon – it is vintage pink with a basket.  When I am not bike riding for exercise, I am either going for a run, working out at the gym or at yoga class.MIKAYOGAAudrey Hepburn will always and forever be my role model – her classy and trendy style is timeless.  Breakfast at Tiffany’s is the best movie in the world, in my book.  If you have not seen this incredible classic, you are surely missing out.  I love to start my own unique fashion trends…I am always up for trying out a new style to wear for a fun occasion.  If you pass me on the city streets I will either be wearing a long, fitted maxi dress with fun colored sandals, a jean vest and chunky jewelry, or patent leather pumps paired with a pretty sundress, long curled locks and a bright colored clutch.  I have never been one to “go with the flow,” I strive for originality.  After all, nothing “wow” was ever seen on someone else first.

Since I was little, I have always had a fascination with classic and muscle cars – thanks daddy!  My dad has a 1972 Corvette, and he even lets me drive it and take it to car shows.  As for me, I have a pretty silver pony; she likes to drive fast and has a V6.

My family means the world to me, I would not be the city gal I am today without all of their amazing love and support.  My parents have always taught me that nothing spectacular in life is easily achieved.  If that special something were easy to acquire, everyone would have it.  So it’s worth working hard for.  Know what you want, have patience and motivation, then get to it.IMG_4027 2

I love spending time with my friends.  From trendy shopping, to making each other feel better by treating ourselves to sinful cupcakes, having picnics and sharing much-needed girl time, I know I can always count on having a fun time with my ladies.  We are always there for one another, as besties should be.

I had the spectacular opportunity to travel.  In addition to living in Florence, Italy, and exploring many areas of the beautiful country, I traveled to Ireland, England, Germany and Greece.  While studying in Italy, I wrote for Santa Cristina Winery, located in the charming town of Cortona.  You can view the introductions that I created that are featured in their online cookbook.

California is one of my favorite places in the world. One of my dreams would be to live in Carmel, the Napa Valley or Sausalito one day.

I am a Staff Writer and Associate Content Manager at Elite Daily in NYC.  Absolutely LOVE what I do…not everyone gets to live their dream every day. We are truly the hottest survival guide for Gen-Y. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do so, and follow my published articles, where you can read about life, love, dating and how I copied Kylie Jenner’s wardrobe on a budget (blue hair and all)…

They are extremely excited to be the newest Brand Reps of the Dressed by Finn family.  Sporting their Poplin Striped Shirts from this chic online dog boutique, Tucker & Blake work very hard hamming it up in their fashionable garb for the camera.  Enjoy reading about their Puppy Tales…as much as I do writing them!

You can take the girl out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the girl: I have always been a city girl at heart – the city is my true home.  The hustle and bustle of the sizzling streets, the gorgeous high-rise buildings towering over you, boundless opportunity, interesting and independent people, amazing cuisine and trendy boutiques all do it for me.  So I hope that you will let me bring it all to you.
