Downtown Crossing welcomes a new member to the neighborhood.  His eloquent mystique and sexy charm has a tendency to captivate all.  And he’s surely dressed to impress with a temptingly delightful beer selection.  With 36 tap lines a-flowing at his luxurious “40-foot oak bar,” The Merchant welcomes everyone in Boston to come on in, relax and join the fun.

The site of the venue originally belonged to a leather merchant for a total of 92 years.  Presently, a new type of “merchant” has taken over the ropes…fully stocked to delight Beantown with a top-notch variety of beer “on draft, and in bottle & can.”  Although a spotlighted factor, The Merchant has other delectable qualities besides its tasty beers.  The Merchant knows how to please and soothe everyone’s needs, also offering guests a unique wine listing containing 3 on tap wines, and amazing cocktails.

As far as mouthwatering bites, The Merchant says that the menu was designed by the talented Executive Chef Matt Foley specifically to “offer a quick bite, or a full coursed meal at lunch or at dinner.”  Incorporating a lunch, dinner and late night menu, The Merchant plans to delight everyone’s taste buds with ‘Modern American Brasserie’ cuisine.  According to The Merchant, a Brasserie itself is usually characterized as “a large, informal restaurant, that serves scrumptious food and alcohol throughout the day, and late into the evening.”  Sounds like an incredible opportunity to take a break from hectic city schedules!

Whether you crave a savory light lunch, for example The Merchant’s scrumptious Croque Madame sandwich, prepared with smoked ham, fried egg, gruyere cheese and bechemel, or go full-throttle with Braised Oxtail Ravioli draped in a lavish red wine reduction, The Merchant has got you covered.

Sometimes, The Merchant can be naughty…when pleasing your sweet tooth.  Who would ever want to turn down beer in one of its best forms?  Ice cream style.  It is recommended to request “off-menu porter ice cream” topped off with luscious Luxardo Maraschino cherries and fluffy Fernet-Branca marshmallows.  Strictly sinful, and strictly delicious.

Savor your next fine brew with The Merchant.  He will surely show you a good time!
