This Thursday, September 18th marks an essential holiday in America’s foodie heritage: National Cheeseburger Day.  The question is, how do you plan to celebrate your juicy burger – garnished with blue cheese and crispy bacon, or topped with truffle aioli and Swiss cheese?

I have put together a mouthwateringly divine roundup for every Boston urbanite to commemorate this American classic.  Now it’s time to prepare your eager taste buds to get their cheeseburger on…

Bar Boulud at Mandarin Oriental, Boston

Bar Boulud is offering a savory combination for all meat-lovers: The Departed.  This ground beef patty incorporates crispy, juicy Irish bacon, Guinness-braised onions and cheddar cheese.  Served with a side of French fries, this burger is a must-try.

Bastille Kitchen

Bastille Kitchen certainly puts a unique, delectable twist on your typical burger.  The Bastille Burger ($18) features crispy onion strings, blue cheese, bacon jam, tomato and lettuce, all served on a fresh brioche.  The burger is complemented with a side of fries.

DRAFT – Holiday Inn Boston Bunker-Hill

DRAFT is offering a “Build Your Own Cheeseburger Menu.”  It only takes four steps to get the creative juices flowing, creating your ultimate burger.  There are three options for protein, including beef ($10), chicken ($9), or Portobello mushroom ($8).  There are a variety of cheeses to choose for your burger – from Gouda to Pepper Jack.  For the last two steps, pick one topping and then a sauce.

Pantry’s classic All American Burger ($11) certainly makes this holiday proud.  An 8 oz. beef patty is topped with tomato, lettuce, onion and pickle, served with a side of the venue’s house fries.

SKYBOKX 109 GastroSports

(319 Speen St, Natick, MA)

Be prepared to take your palate on an enticingly delicious adventure at SKYBOKX this Thursday.  The PRIME 109 ($18) incorporates 1 lb. ground prime beef, crispy onion strings, au jus, sharp cheddar cheese, arugula, horseradish aioli and a side of fries.

Strega Prime

When it comes to cuisine, Strega Prime defines “top-notch.”  Celebrate your cheeseburger Strega Prime style.  Their 10 oz. Sirloin Burger ($14) features ground sirloin, fontina cheese, sautéed onions and a side of truffle fries.  Yes….truffle!

The Blue Ox’s Sin Burger ($16) totally lives up to its name…it is deliciously sinful.  This burger is topped with Applewood-smoked bacon, truffle aioli, Swiss cheese, tomato and lettuce.
